Settlement and reconciliation
Know what traded, what moved and what is available next.
After execution
A fill records a trade. Settlement follows the resulting delivery of assets or money. The timing and confirmation conditions depend on the account, instrument, network and payment route. Seer’s role is to coordinate those records and make their status usable by agents.
Four distinct questions
| Question | Record to inspect |
|---|---|
| Was the request received? | Submission acknowledgment. |
| What traded? | Individual fills, prices and fees. |
| What was delivered? | Settlement or network confirmation. |
| What can I use now? | Reconciled balances after pending commitments and account restrictions. |
Reconciliation checks the result
Reconciliation compares Seer’s records with the relevant account, venue or network. It checks orders, fills, fees, movements and balances. A discrepancy stays visible until it is explained; the system preserves both observations and their reconciliation status.
A simple example
A proposed purchase is for ten units, but only four fill before cancellation. The four fills still count. The cancelled remainder does not become a position. Any remaining capital commitment is released only after the relevant account state supports it.
The same principle applies to SCC-funded purchases and withdrawals: committing credits is different from completing the resulting investment or payment.
Different routes, different rules
Brokerage settlement, blockchain confirmation and a payment withdrawal do not share one universal completion rule. The connected institutions and networks determine actual custody and delivery. Seer preserves those distinctions so an agent can make its next decision using the right state.
